Cia, a fellow photographer, contacted me for help with a little project she has been working on.  It’s called L.E.G.S (learn.empower.give.support) An excerpt from the artist statement:

“Independent and strong women stand on their own two feet, our legs give us support, they ground us, empower us and they wrap around our lovers gently. They are something to be grateful for. I am looking for everyday women who want to be a part of something larger than themselves and give back to other women. L.E.G.S. mission is to empower women through other women’s experiences. Along with the photo each participant will include a moment when they’ve had to overcome hardship be it abuse, addiction, homlessness or anything that they feel strongly about. Coming out stronger in the end is the positive example I want to highlight.”

The problem? She needed images for her own “legs.”  I was happy and honored to be asked to help with such a positive project. Check out her website and the organization she is working with Courageous Woman.

Photographing a photographer is a little intimidating, but when working with the  talented and sweet Jamie of Jaime Lauren Photography  those feelings went away pretty quickly.  It was great to shoot someone so passionate about photography and her business as I am. We geeked out on photo gear, her bag of very awesome cameras, and photographers we admired. We definitely had to stop chatting and get back to work or we might have missed this beautiful yummy light.

Ava

Sugar and spice and everything nice…..
Ava and I had a lovely time  taking a few pictures in The Presidio.  The same locstion where her dad had portraits done when he was her age.

This was one of those shoots when I knew the images would be great. The reason – Lisa and Ali. Especially Ali. Lisa is a gorgeous (love those curls) laid-back mom and Ali is her so-incredibly-cute and full-of-personality son. Yes, they are adorable but more importantly what I saw was how much Lisa adores her son and how Ali just loves his mom.

Muir Woods is a magical place. If you have not been I highly suggest you do go. The trees are amazing and grand. It’s a peaceful place even with 100 tourists running around. Ron and Linda wanted to do their engagement session there and upon meeting them it seemed like the perfect location. They really appreciate nature and being outside. Even though they both were a little nervous about the shoot, there is a peacefulness and calm about them. So the fact the looming storm clouds were ready to dump didn’t bother them at all. It didn’t bother me for that matter. These two were like school kids giggling and smiling at each other throughout the shoot. It was great spending some time in the woods with such a lovely couple. The wedding is coming up quick – can’t wait to be a part of it!

Kristin is just good people. We had a little “Just Because” Session the other day. It was so nice photographing her and learning about her life. She is a mom and a teacher and she’s very passionate about doing both. Being a mom and a teacher are pretty much both full time jobs, which leaves no time for her. It was really good to help her take some time for herself. We should all do that!
