It’s as simple as something that nobody knows, that her eyes are as big as her bubbly toes- Jack Johnson
A good friend moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to study in the Food Policy and Sustainability Program at Chatham University. I was very excited to come for a visit.
Reason One: Snow. This California girl hates being cold but there is something about snow. It’s so magical.
Reason Two: The Lumineers. She got two tickets and I was more than happy to go. An amazing, talented band.
Reason Three: Kim! I miss her terribly!
(mostly my 5d mark11 and a few iPhone)

Balloons and a cupcake what more could a girl ask for on her birthday? The balloons lasted about 3 minutes and the cupcake about 2 minutes. Happy Birthday to you Emme.

The other day I was getting a cup a coffee at one of my favorite local coffee shops. They brew a single cup at a time. As I was talking to the coffee maker (barista?) brewing my single cup of coffee, I could hear the passion and excitement he had about his craft. He said a few years ago he never thought he would be this excited about coffee. It was so fun to see someone so energized about the details that most people don’t really think about.
Dave has always loved music. It’s something he always did – played guitar and sang. Recently, he decided to follow his love of country music and start playing for people. He wanted to do a photo shoot for his upcoming website. Music was such a part of Dave’s life growing up that hearing him sing, play, and talk about music I could feel he had that same intense passion for his art.
So the theme for this week (and any other for that matter!)… Whether it’s mochas or music, follow your passions and immerse yourself in what feeds your soul. You never know where it will take you!
Cia, a fellow photographer, contacted me for help with a little project she has been working on. It’s called L.E.G.S (learn.empower.give.support) An excerpt from the artist statement:
“Independent and strong women stand on their own two feet, our legs give us support, they ground us, empower us and they wrap around our lovers gently. They are something to be grateful for. I am looking for everyday women who want to be a part of something larger than themselves and give back to other women. L.E.G.S. mission is to empower women through other women’s experiences. Along with the photo each participant will include a moment when they’ve had to overcome hardship be it abuse, addiction, homlessness or anything that they feel strongly about. Coming out stronger in the end is the positive example I want to highlight.”
The problem? She needed images for her own “legs.” I was happy and honored to be asked to help with such a positive project. Check out her website and the organization she is working with Courageous Woman.
