I had the honor of meeting Brenda and Libby the other day and to shoot their Maternity Session. Not only are they a super sweet couple and so excited about this baby, but Brenda and Libby own Brenda’s French Soul Food, a place I have been dying to try but have never quite made it to. The word on the street is that the brunch is amazing! It’s really pretty cool – you never know who you might meet. I am such a foodie and it was like a brush with celebrity – kind of. It was really nice walking through Golden Gate Park talking about following your passion, whether it be cooking or photography. I wish them all the luck and I can’t wait to get to Brenda’s French Soul Food and get a beignet or two!
Brittany and Steve are getting married this year. Before they go on their big adventure as man and wife they had a little adventure of moving over 2000 miles away from home together. They met and fell in love back east but jobs brought them west. Living here is hard sometimes because of who they left behind. But they have each other! I love this shoot because, well, the light is awesome. Also they are such super down-to-earth people. I shouldn’t say it was easy photographing them (ssshhh!) – but it was. On the other hand, as Steve commented, “Being a supermodel is hard work!”
I have had this idea swimming in my head for a while. What would it be like to grab my favorite vendors and do a “faux” wedding? Planning it was not easy. I have a whole new appreciation of what my brides and grooms go through. Every time we would plan a day it would rain or someone couldn’t do it. Finally months and months later we picked a date and it was on no matter what! Well, it finally happened last week. Rain (lots of it) and an emergency venue change did not stop it. There is something so amazing about having an idea floating for so long and to finally see it materialize and to work with such passionate talented people. Here is the beautiful product of our dream and the list of amazing vendors who made it possible.

You ever miss someone so bad? I have… Jeff will go somewhere for a week and at first – okay it’s kinda nice. Things are where I left them or I can watch bad TV… and nobody is hogging up the whole bed (that would be me). Then it feels like something is missing, the house feels so empty and I miss him.
Madeline wanted to get pictures of her and Paul (Loki too – their dog) before he went back to Iraq. Paul is in the home stretch! It’s his last tour. He will be there for six more months then he is done. She wanted to have some pictures of them together so when she missed him she could look at them and have the memory of the day. It must be hard for someone you love to be gone for so long. This couple is so sweet together. They have something really special and I hope the time apart flys by for both of them and Loki too.
One of my favorite things about photography is the post-processing and editing. This is the part of the process when I go to the digital darkroom (aka my computer). I look though my “film” and pick the best of the best from the day’s shoot and add the magic touches. Kinda like applying make-up to a face. Just enough to enhance its natural beauty. Since this can take some time, this is when I get to really listening to my music. I have so much I sometimes forget what I have.
