I was sent this website a few months ago and it really stuck with me. From March 31, 1979 through October 25, 1997, Jamie Livingston documented his life with a Polaroid camera – one picture a day. The pictures follow the story of a young man through his life in NYC up until his death in 1997 at the way-too-early age of 41. It is an amazing, moving experience. Please take a look and experience his story.
Jamie’s friends Hugh Crawford and Betsy Reid promised him they would not let the project die with him.
“As the cityscape has changed, many of the pictures have accrued meaning. They often don’t mean anything by themselves, But when you put them all together, they take on a life of their own.”
-Hugh Crawford
I felt inspired. So, everyday in 2009 I am taking a picture with my iPhone and posting it here and to my Facebook page. Please check back – I am really excited about this project. Here is what I’ve got so far…
