Mission San Xavier del Bac

I have a thing for old things, especially churches.

Mission San Xavier del Bac, just south of Tucson, AZ, reminds me of an old church you might see in a small village in Mexico or Spain.

Five years ago, while visiting the Mission with my Nikon film camera, I fell in love with this place I knew I’d eventually return with my digital Canon camera.

Built from1783-1797 by the Franciscan Fathers Juan Bautista Velderrrain and Jaun Bautista Llorenz, the Mission is a blend of Morrish, Byzantine and late Mexican Renaissance architecture.

This White Dove is truly a must see the next time you are in Tucson.

Amen!
